American Politics; Canadian Rugger
On my morning commute I passed several thousand people waiting in line to attend the Bill Clinton book signing of "My Life". I don't know if Bill's book signing will be as privileged and partisan an event as the recent Cheney Rally in Albuquerque where it was required that attendees sign a letter of endorsement! Modern democracy at work! The endorsement form says: "I, (full name) ... do herby (sic) endorse George W. Bush for re-election of the United States." Yeehaw! Cheney criticized the Kerry-Edwards Campaign for "the failed thinking of
the past" - OHMYGOD, Cheney, if you're the thinking of the future I'll have to go back to the Middle Ages.
Last night we only managed five for rugby, but gave it a run nonetheless. Sprained finger aside, it was a good run - our side only moderately embarrassed ourselves. The topic of conversation over pints afterwards ran to the legalization of marijuana and the issues around policing stoners who decide to get behind the wheel. How will the government deal with the problem that there are no satisfactory tests to determine if someone is incapacitated behind the wheel? Additives?
Work is trudging along. I'm running a Document Assembly demo today and dreaming of working on a marketing plan. Tonight we're headed (slightly) north for dinner with the folks.
