Jacques Rogge, the president of the International Olympic Committee, criticised the [construction of athletic infrastructure in Greece] and said that in future the IOC would choose cities that "already have a maximum of infrastructure in place and a minimum of virtual plans". There may yet be wider labour protests in Greece as the Olympics near. Greece is also going to get into trouble with its EU deficit targets as a result of the overruns.
As an aside - shouldn't the BBC be indicating the direction of the spiral?
