LFC is hosting Monaco today at Anfield for their first first round match in the Champions League. Not to go on about it too much, but I think Liverpool's long-term future will very much rest not on success in the Premiership, but in the Champions League Series. Should the team falter, it is quite likely that other Champion League sides will poach the top Liverpool players and it will be just that much harder to attract top-class talent to the team. And this is an uphill climb - as the club is 33-1 to win the trophy. Staying in until Christmas would probably be a reasonable goal for this season.
