On the Shuttle's recent grounding for damage concerns, Neal Harrison comments that the astronauts are well aware of the risks - send them up.

I think the real issue is that delays like this recent NASA mission scrub throw the whole project into possible irrelevance... the X Prize program should have thrown the fear of God into NASA.

In my opinion, the Days of the Shuttle program is over. Time for small manned vehicles and tons more unmanned programs.
