UEFA approves new 'local player' rule

The development of lower level sport and individual talent in football today received a major boost with UEFA changing the team sheet requirements for teams playing in the body's competitions. Starting next season, clubs will be required to field a first-team roster of 25 players containing at least two players trained at their own academy. An additional two must come through systems of clubs from the same country.
