The Stern Report on Climate Change
Yesterday, a new major report - [ Stern Report ] - on global warming by Sir Nicholas Stern was released by the UK government that warns of devastating economic consequences if action is not taken now to address climate change.
For the business guys, the report warns that if temperatures rise by five degrees Celsius, up to 10% of global output could be lost.
For the environmentally minded (strangely not the same group as above), the report states that rising sea levels could leave 200 million people permanently displaced, up to 40% of species could face extinction and there will be more examples of extreme weather patterns.
