Monday Report

Sigh -- another Monday of work is over and it's still bloody hot in the office.

I'm shortly headed to the PCF meeting (yes, I'll pick up the car K) and then trying to get some work done this evening. Many phone calls to make and emails to write.

Nenita is now in town! Or rather Dr. Nenita is in town. Looking forward to catching up tomorrow.

The tux details have been sent -- next up, confirming menus and getting the marriage license. Need to decide on the honeymoon too -- several choices still remain.

Friday Morning

It's Friday morning and today I'm feeling a little overwhelmed as I take the time to update my various social networking outlets. Currently I'm on blogger (here), twitter and facebook. I'm also updating the LFC Toronto site and managing several email accounts. I might even try to do some work today.

Wednesday's PCF Facebook party was fairly successful from a fundraising point of view in the end (we raised just over $2000), but the event has really brought me to the opinion that we need to be a lot different in our approach. I'm thinking we should take a page from the OANDA book and do something really radical in the Charity space.

Wolfowitz out

Well it only took him way too long to do it, but Paul
Wolfowitz has resigned as President of the World Bank
, weeks after becoming embroiled in a scandal over his award of a pay rise for his girlfriend.

Wolfowitz was a chief architect of the Iraq War.

A blog update

I'm listening to Joy Division as I write this blog -- both are activities I haven't done for a while.

It's been a busy week or so as my whirlwind trip to the UK, work, wedding stuff, concert-going and sporting events have competed for time.

The London/Liverpool trip was an amazing bit of fun and for the most part I managed to meet Mom's request that I drink in moderation. The game itself was pretty terrible; although we tied 2-2 it could have easily been 4-0 at the half. They can't play that way against AC Milan!

I worked out on Tuesday and pretty much fell to earth -- made it through the class but it wasn't pretty. The Arcade Fire show was tremendous although I had Geroge Strombopoulos banging my seat the entire show. Tickets were amazing.

The atmosphere at BMO Field for Toronto FC is amazing with constant noise -- certainly nothing comparable to the Kop at Anfield but almost there's nothing comparable in the Toronto sports scene.

The wedding stuff is more rapidly coming together now. Still many things to do, but I hope to have many of them put to bed this (long) weekend.

Next week is our Project ChildCare Foundation fundraiser!

Honeybee die-off threatens food supply - Yahoo! News

If you haven't heard there is mysterious killer that is wiping out many US honeybee colonies. This population collapse could have a devastating effect on American's dinner plate.

The reason for this -- honeybees don't just make honey; they fill a vital niche in agricultural production. In the US, honeybees pollinate more than 90 flowering crops including apples, nuts, avocados, soybeans, asparagus, broccoli, celery, squash, citrus fruit, peaches, kiwi, cherries, blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, cantaloupe and other melons.

Urban Beekeeping anyone?
